Ayr’s Ava Morgan has been officially crowned the 79th winner to claim the title of Miss Great Britain, becoming the youngest to receive the honors in a decade, following a national competition that took place over the weekend at Leicester.
Morgan, 19, received the highest marks in many of the contest’s challenging categories and was able to beat out 40 other Miss Great Britain finalists to take home the crown, saying that it was a “dream come true.”
“I am honoured to take the Miss Great Britain crown back to Scotland” she said, according to the Scottish Sun. “I am also the youngest Miss Great Britain in 10 years.
“It’s a reminder that stepping out of my comfort zone was the best thing I could have done, and now I’m excited to use this win to inspire and empower others to do the same.
“A huge thank you to everyone who came and attended to support me. Hearing you all cheer me on relaxed me and made the experience even more enjoyable.”
Ava, a student who studies international business at the University of Edinburgh, had previously qualified as Miss Great Britain Edinburgh and won after demonstrating her charitable abilities, talent, and publicity efforts.
Morgan raised £21,000 for charity leading up to the final and won won best publicity campaign after creating ‘BeBoobAware’ which is dedicated to raising awareness for Breast Cancer.
It symbolises everything I’ve worked for – the personal growth, the confidence I’ve built and the opportunity to turn my platform, BeBoob Aware, into something even bigger” she added.
“This title means I can reach more people, raise greater awareness for Breast Cancer and show others that no matter where you start, you can achieve incredible things.”
