Former Bay City Roller Pat McGlynn is demanding that police issue an apology after new claims that they “turned a blind eye” to the abuse at the hands of former manager Tom Paton, according to The Scottish Sun.
McGlynn, 66, blasted cops after a victim, identified as Olly, claimed that authorities failed to pursue a member of Paton’s paedo ring, per the report. Olly claims that he was sexually assaulted by a pervert in the so-called “magic circle” in 1983 or 1984.
Olly also claims that he was restrained by men at Paton’s home before he managed to escape in Gogarbank, telling the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry that cops “swept it under the carpet”.
McGlynn claims that Paton tried to rape him back in 1977 and says he told cops in 2003.
“They told me there was insufficient evidence” McGlynn says. “An inquiry has heard police knew what Paton was up to but they just turned a blind eye.
“I could do with an apology. Why wasn’t I listened to?”
Scotland Police stated the following: “We urge anyone who has been a victim of such offences to come forward.”
