Two more Indians recruited in the Russian army have died in the ongoing war in Russia-Ukraine. After the death of these two people, the death toll has gone up to four. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that India has strongly raised this matter with Russia and has demanded the early release and return of all Indian citizens recruited in the Russian army.

India has demanded that the Russian army completely stop any kind of recruitment of Indian citizens. Because such activities would not be in line with the India-Russia partnership.

Earlier in March, Mohammed Asfan from Hyderabad succumbed to injuries sustained at a Russian army front. In February, Hemal Ashwinbhai Mangua from Surat was killed in a Ukrainian airstrike in Donetsk.

According to reports, around 200 Indians were recruited as security assistants in the Russian army. A total of 10 Indians working as support staff have been released and sent back to India.
