A military plane carrying the Vice President of the African country Malawi, Saulos Klaus Chilima, has been missing for 18 hours. The Malawi government said that the plane disappeared from the radar on Monday morning. There were a total of 9 people on board the plane.

According to news agency Reuters, the aviation authority has tried to contact the plane several times, but has had no success. Chilima's aircraft took off from Malawi's capital Lilongwe at 2:47 pm Indian time. It was scheduled to land at the airport in Mzuzu city about 45 minutes later.

However, due to bad weather it could not land. After this the plane was ordered to go back to Lilongwe. After this the plane went missing. A search operation is being conducted to find the aircraft. Efforts are also on to track its location. Malawi has also sought help from the governments of America, Britain, Norway and Israel to find the plane.
