Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was suddenly attacked by a man in Copenhagen. According to the news agency Ritzau’s report, the accused came from behind and pushed Frederiksen hard. Due to this she stumbled. However, Copenhagen police have arrested the attacker and he is being questioned.

This attack has happened just before the European Union (EU) elections. The EU elections are to be held on 9 June. Danish PM Mette Frederiksen is campaigning with Social Democrats EU lead candidate Christel Schaldemoes. She was returning from the campaign at the time of the incident.

Denmark’s state broadcaster DR quoted the Prime Minister’s Office as saying that Frederiksen was shocked by the attack. Eyewitnesses to the incident said that a man came from the other side and pushed PM Mate’s shoulder hard. The push was very strong, but she managed to avoid falling. After this she sat in a cafe.
